BOOK PROMO & REVIEW - Just One Lie (Just One Night #2) by Kyra Davis

Title: Just One Lie (Just One Night #2)
Author: Kyra Davis

Synopsis
The long-awaited follow-up novel to the runaway New York Times bestseller Just One Night—which Publishers Weekly gave a starred review and proclaimed, “Davis skillfully creates an uplifting story in which sex is presented both as freedom and as a metaphor for power, and where raw chemistry is the clear winner over bland complacency.”
In the instant international sensation Just One Night, sensible Kasie Fitzgerald unleashed her passions—and found herself—through an explosive affair. In Just One Lie, we meet Kasie’s wild and tortured sister, whose impulsivity and lack of self-control has set off a chain of events that changes her family forever.
Melody Fitzgerald is the opposite of the “perfect” daughter. The lead singer of an indie rock band, she is impulsive and creative, with a rebellious streak that both defines her and becomes her greatest enemy. Her lover, the enticing and unpredictable Ash, shares her free spirit and penchant for trouble. On the face of it, he seems to be her perfect match.
So why is she so drawn to her soft spoken, reliable drummer, Brad Witmer? How can a man who wears polo shirts and reads the financial section of the paper be of any interest to her at all? And why on earth does someone like that appear to be so captivated by her?
Before she knows it, Melody finds herself on a path of self-discovery, passion, and affairs of the heart. But will a dark secret from her past derail it all? Or will its exposure be the very thing that unburdens her heart and allows her to seek a future with the one man who loves her completely?

Trish's rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

4.5 MERCY stars

Just One Lie is part of the Just One Night series, but can be read as a standalone.

Again, another first for me. The first Kyra Davis book I’ve read and I must say, I really enjoyed it.

This is Mercy’s story. A heartbreakingly gorgeous story about her journey in discovering herself, finding her happiness and finding love and the road that leads her to it.

I adored how Kyra Davis brought out my emotions with this story. She had me so invested in Mercy and her journey that I felt for her every single step of the way. Mercy has so many layers. She isn’t just “what you see is what you get”. She is so much more. She has baggage, bad habits and lots of issues she is running from. You just can’t help but love her. Her choices will sometimes have you questioning her, but they are her choices and through her journey you understand how they all fit.

This story not only brings us Mercy, but also Brad and Ash. Both Brad and Ash are very different in their own rights. Mercy is drawn to both of them. She has history with Ash, but Brad … it’s something else. Brad makes Mercy feel all kinds of things. Things that Ash has never made her feel.

The connection between these characters was extraordinary. I loved watching the struggle between Brad v’s Ash and how with all the twists and turn and how hot and sexy it got. But in the end, the key to this story is Mercy … her journey, the person she strives to be.

I loved reading Mercy’s story. Her pain broke my heart. I wanted so much for her. I knew the path I would choose for her and so desperately wanted to see her have the life she wanted and deserved.

Mercy made me feel. I was transfixed at every turn.

Kyra Davis – thank you for writing Mercy’s story.

Highly recommended.
