Title: Abuse
Author: Nikki Sex
Publisher: Ashton Publishing Group
 Release Date: January 13, 2015

Bonjour, my name is André Chevalier. It has been my joy and my great honor to help those who have lost their way. Not long after I began my journey, I met two such wounded souls.

Renata Koreman, my little mouse. She came to me as a child—shy, mute, injured… broken. It took oh-so many years to start to bring her back to herself! Yet, I could not fully heal her.

Years later, Grant Wilkinson, he too fell into my hands. The ex-Army Ranger was badly disfigured and saw himself as a monster. Isolated by secrets, solitary and self-contained, his colleagues affectionately named him ‘Frosty.’ Yet, how should one behave when besieged by a lifetime of confusion and guilt?

The moment I saw him, I thought of her and I wondered. The eyes, they cannot always see clearly. And the heart? Ah, the heart can only guess at the truth. So it was that I remained uncertain.

Could the mouse and the monster heal each other?

Wow, what an intense, thought provoking and remarkable story this is.

Knowing that Nikki writes this with knowledge and experience from her past line of work, is truly fascinating and extraordinary.

And Andre Chevalier. OMG I love this man. So understanding, kind and loving in all aspects of his life and others. Never judges, never assumes.

This story is predominately about Grant and Renata – and how Andre helps heal them both.

Like we all know – Abuse is never okay.

Abuse happens in many forms and most of the time hidden well by the victim.

Grant is no exception. He’s ex-Army, disfigured and confused, dark and twisted about who he is and how to feel about himself. He really is a lost and tortured soul. His entire family is all messed up from alcoholism to drugs – although society seems to think they are perfect on the surface – but looks can be so deceiving.

But underneath all of Grant’s self-hatred and guilt, you can really see that he is a kind, caring man who carries an incredible guilt with him heavily. A guilt, from no fault of his own, but of what he endured as a child. The events of his childhood have scarred his adult life. It is killing him on the inside until he seeks out Andre for help.

Watching the story unfold and Grant open up to Andre was brilliant. Andre’s insight to helping Grant is marvelous. In his counselling sessions, Grant truly opens up in ways he was not expecting.

Andre’s methods are superb. His gentle insistence with Grant on meeting Renata was perfect. Renata will be Grant’s lifeline. Andre knows this.

Renata is also a long term client of Andre’s who is now working alongside him as a sexual surrogate. Helping clients with their sexual inadequacies.

Her past is interesting and dark filled with many secrets and fears. Andre knows that Grant may be the one to heal her completely.

When Renata came into Andre’s care she was an extremely lost soul. Andre healed her in the most beautiful way possible. Allowing her to be herself, without judgment. Caring for her, understanding her and loving her. The abuse she suffered as a child is different than Grant’s, but it is still a form of abuse. Despite all of Andre’s care and love in putting her back together, she is still damaged.

Will Andre’s matchmaking idea solve everything for them both?

They both have their secrets, shocking pasts filled with torturous events that shape them to be the people they are today.

Grant is just looking at being accepted for who he is – not what he looks like on the outside. He is just trying to accept himself for the person he wants to be and not the abused child he was.

Renata is trying to fight her past, her fears by using sex as a way of love – until she finally meets the person that she could truly love. She uses sex to pull out people’s desires, to feel love and intimacy. But what will happen when she really feels these things? Will she understand the difference?

Grant and Renata’s passion is electrifying. The really heat up the story with the aggression, emotion and unfamiliar feelings they go through. Renata heals Grant in a way that no one can explain. She makes him feel human and loved and doesn’t judge him on his appearance.

And of course, Andre had plotted this all along.

Will Grant fall for her? Can Renata love him unconditionally? Will Renata be there for Grant in his time of need? Will Grant allow himself to be loved unconditionally?

Everything felt so real and raw throughout this story. I just felt like I was reading someones life story.

Nikki is brilliant when it comes to writing emotionally intense stories. Portraying her characters and their emotional state of minds is something she does with ease. This book will make you feel everything for Grant and Renata. Their blame, their humiliation and embarrassment, their love, their fear, their anxiety, their nervousness.

Brilliant, just brilliant.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – Nikki - I really need a man like Andre in my life – show me where to find him.
