Author Bio
USA Today bestselling author, Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind she likes to read. Her books include the novels Faithful and Hopeful and the novella series’ The Empire State Series, What the Lightning Sees and Calling Me. The novels and together each series are stand-alone although there are some overlapping characters.
Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, Louise loves all
things romantic. There's not enough of it in real life so she disappears into
the fictional worlds in books and films.
Louise loves the rain, the West Wing, London, days when she doesn’t
have to wear make-up, being on her own, being with friends, elephants and
champagne.
She loves to hear from readers so get in touch!
We’ll start with some easy questions to get moving.
Is writing something that comes easy or naturally to
you?
Sometimes and then sometimes I have to
work at it. I think it’s like most things – you have to work at them. As Joel
in Hopeful says “Nothing worth having comes easy”
Is writing a full time or part time career for you?
It’s part time. I still do my day job
Monday-Wednesday.
What inspires or motivates you to write?
The voices in my head!
How long have you been writing?
Just over two years.
What has been your favourite book to write to date
and why?
I like them all for different reasons
What do you consider your “big break” in the writing
world?
I’m not sure I’ve had it yet but making
USA Today was fun!
What types of books do you like to read?
Romance, romance, romance!
Tell us a little about yourself? Something more than is in your Bio. Or tell us something that none of your fans
would know.
I love the rain!
Have you ever wanted to give up writing half way
through a book?
Every time.
What would your advice be for a budding
writer/author?
Keep writing.
Which author do you admire and why?
Everyone who manages to finish a book
deserves admiration
What other stories can we look forward to seeing
from you? Can you give us any synopsis?
The Calling Me three part novella series
starts its release on 15 September. I’m really excited about it. There’s only a
two week wait between them so not long to wait if you’re impatient.
The synopsis is
Is it possible for a guy to turn on a
switch and realize he’s been in love with a girl that’s been under his nose for
over a decade? Ashleigh Franklin can’t decide.
Ashleigh wants the fairy tale. Ever since
she was a kid, her best friend’s brother, Luke, has been her fantasy Prince
Charming. Now he’s trying to convince her that she’s the one he’s wanted all
these years. There’s no way it’s that easy to escape the friend zone.
Single after years living with a
girlfriend, Luke has finally woken up. What he’s been waiting for has been
right under his nose for almost his entire life. Can he persuade her that he’s
serious and won’t break her heart?
A Wonder Woman costume, a bottle of
tequila and a game of truth or dare between two close friends changes everything.
Then before Christmas, Indigo Nights will
release. It’s a very sexy book!
If you book/story was made into a move, who would
play your leading characters? Would you
keep the same title as the book?
Do you know, I think that if a movie ever
got made, I’d leave it to the experts . . . I couldn’t presume to think I’d
know better.
What do you do when you are looking to have a bit of
fun?
Hang out with my family and friends.
How do you relax?
Trashy TV. I love the Real Housewives
franchise.
Are the experiences in your stories based on someone
you know or events in your own life?
I write character driven books so really
my characters take over however much I might plot .
What are you ambitions for a writing career?
I just want to write books people like to
read.
Do you ever get writer’s block? How do you get through writers block?
Just keep writing, keep putting words on
the page.
Have you ever met real life people like your
characters?
I think if you want your characters to
feel real, you need to take facets from real people so there are little bits of
reality in all my characters.
What does your daily ritual consist of?
I try and write first thing in the
morning. I try and write 2,000 words a day.
What is your favourite book quote?
I have different favourites all time. My
favourite from Calling Me Back is “small noises I’d never heard her make before
fell from her lips.”
What is the weirdest request you have received from
your fans?
I don’t think I really get weird
requests. I love hearing from readers.
How about we move to a few interesting questions…
What has been the most romantic date you have been
on and with whom?
I can’t tell you that in case I use it in
one of my books!
Do you write under a pen name? How many pen names do you have? What is your real name?
I have just one pen name.
Have you ever acted out a scene in your book with
your partner?
Nope.
What is your favourite all time quote or
motivational phrase?
There are so many but I love Teddy
Roosevelt’s many in the arena speech. Check out my pinterest site for lots of
my favourite quotes and sayings.
What is your one (top) sexual fantasy? Have you accomplished it?
Again, I’ve got to save stuff for my
books!
What is one dirty, sexy secret you can share with
us?
I save them for my books I’m afraid.
If you had a choice would you choose – flogger,
blindfold, handcuffs, restraints, rope, whips, cane?
Handcuffs
Thank you Louise for spending some time with me at
Novels In Heels.
STALK LOUISE
