AUTHOR INTERVIEW - Aurora Rose Reynolds

I’d like to welcome Aurora Rose Reynolds to Novels In Heels.  I was excited and thrilled to have been given the opportunity to interview Aurora Rose a little while ago.
I am a huge fan and her stories have always been some of my top reads.  I fell in love with Aurora and the Mayson Men from the beginning of the Until Series.
As you may or may not know from her bio, Aurora Rose Reynolds is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Best Selling Author.  She started writing so that the over the top alpha men that lived in her head would leave her alone. When she’s not writing or reading she spends her days with her very own real life alpha who loves her as much as the men in her books love their women, and their Great Dane, Blue, that always keeps her on her toes.
Aurora’s books include: Until series (4 books) plus Until Her and Until Him, UndergroundKing series (3 books), Justified, Second Change Holiday and her most recent release Fighting to Breathe.  Aurora has a number of books still to be released, and I know I am looking forward to the release of them as are so many of her fans.

I love interviewing authors and getting an insight into their lives, what makes them tick and write awesome stories with a little more of an in-depth interview. So why don’t we start with some easy ones, moving onto more detailed and personal questions and then naughtier ones to close off the interview.

Name (Do you write under a pen name?):
I do but I use my middle names, my mom named me after a princess lol.

Gahhh I think 34 but I may be 35 I never know how old I am because I feel like I’m still 21

Where are you currently based?
Outside of Nashville Tennessee in a small town.

How did writing begin for you?
I couldn’t find anything to read, I love over the top alpha males and sweet books, there are never enough on the market so I decided one day to try my hand and writing and thank god I did it well enough to make other people happy.

How long have you been writing?
In September it will be three years I’ve been published but I have always written, when I was young I wrote a lot of poetry and even had a few pieces published.

I know from your bio that you have many alpha men living inside your head, but can you tell us how easy or hard is it for you to put pen to paper?  Does the writing process come easily to you?
My head is a crowded place, the men that live in my brain are constantly fighting for seniority.

Is writing a full time career for you?
Yes I’m lucky enough to be able to write as a career.

What did you do before you began writing or published your first book?
I think I held every job known to man. I was a nurse for years then a hair stylist, I worked a bar and at a fish processing plant, I also worked in telemarketing and did visuals for GAP inc. Like I said I have done a lot lol

What do you consider your “big break” in the writing world?
Until November was my breakthrough book and it was my first. People still tell me it is their favurite.

What does writing bring to you?  Can you explain how it makes you feel?
Writing is my happy place. There is nothing better (other than reading) than escaping into a word I’ve created.

What inspires or motivates you to write or in your general everyday life?
LOVE, I see a couple or a guy and a story will come to me. I will literally make up whole stories for random people.

Do you have a mentor that you turn to for help?
I have amazing friends. Rochelle Paige is one of the people I lean on the most. I respect her advice and know that I can count on her for anything.

What has been your favourite book to write to date and why?
Fighting to breathe is my all-time favourite (to date) I love the story I love that it’s emotional and I love the characters.

Who is your favourite character in any of your books and why?
I think my favourite character would have to be Maggie from Distraction, I love that she’s a little crazy but super sweet.

How do you feel writing sexy, hot alpha male scenes?  Do you write them with experience or lots of research?

Do you envision a particular muse for each of your characters or are they totally made up from your imagination?
Sometimes I make them up but sometimes I will see someone and build a whole world around them.

Speaking of research, what type or how much research goes into writing an Aurora Rose Reynolds story?
I have always let my stories tell themselves I don’t put in a lot of research.

Are your books totally fictional, or are some aspects based on people you know, events in your own life or situations you have been involved in?
Some are based on things that really happened to me or people I know some just happen as I write.

Do you work to an outline, plot or do you prefer to just see where the writing/story takes you?
I do plot my books but a lot of times I slide away from the plot as I write. On average it takes me about 2 -3 months to finish a book.

Have you ever wanted to give up writing half way through a book?
ALL THE TIME. The men that live in my head are sometimes annoying they stop talking or get over run by another character.

You write about sexy alpha men, are these the types of books you like to read as well?
I love ALPHA MALES I love sassy women I love insta love and sweet romance those are my favourite kinds of books.

What is your favourite thing to do other than writing or how do you relax?
I love spending time with my husband and our dog Blue.

What would your advice be for a budding writer/author?
Never give up, always believe in yourself even when no one else does.

What are you ambitions for a writing career?

I would love to see my books on shelves or in the movies. DREAM BIG

What is the best way for your readers to connect with you?
E-mail or on my Author Facebook page.

I know you have a few stories in the works for 2016.  Is it possible to share an excerpt or synopsis of something you are working on with Novels In Heels?
Right now I’m working on Until June.

“Ev.” Her forehead comes to rest against my chest as her head drops forward and her hands slide around my back. “This… she lets out a breath then continues quietly “I dreamt of you...” She pauses pressing her nose into my chest. “You use to haunt me and I…” my gut gets tight and she pauses again. “I don’t know if this is real, it can’t be real.”

How do you think you have evolved creatively?
I think I have grown as an author and I will forever be learning.

If one of your stories was made into a movie, which would it be and who would play your leading characters?

I would love to see Fighting to Breathe on the big screen and would love Chris Hemsworth and Kate Beckinsale to play the leading roles.

What is your favourite book quote?
I love you so much you’d think I was growing a vagina, Until Trevor I don’t know why that’s my favorite but it has always been.

Now for something a little more personal:

What would you say is your greatest achievement in life?
I think my greatest achievement is being happy. I’m lucky to have a man that loves me a career I love and I’m surrounding by good people. I don’t have too many bad days.

Who is your favourite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

I love Kristen Ashley. The thing about her writing that I love is when I’m reading her books I feel like I’m a part of the story. Reading her books and feeling the emotions her books invoke make me want to be a better author.

What is your favourite movie and why?

Sixteen candles. I’m a mush I love romance so when the girl that is kinda invisible gets the HOT GUY to me there is nothing better than that.

Favourite music?
Adele, Ed Sheeran, Drake, Sam hunt, Really I love all music.

Favourite candy?
Dark chocolate covered anything.

Do you let your husband, parents, friends read your books?  Do they support the alpha men that you write about?  What have their reactions been?
Everyone I know reads my books and they have all been super supportive I couldn’t ask for better friends and family.

Do you believe in Insta-love?  Why?
YES, I knew the moment I met my husband that I wanted to marry him and I DID NOT EVER WANT TO GET MARRIED.

What has been the most romantic date you have been on and with whom?
My husband and I’s third date it wasn’t anything big but slow dancing in the middle of a living room with him has always been one of my favourite memories.

Asher, I based him on my husband who is just as Asher is a little crazy but I know his crazy is the good kind.
