I’d like to welcome James Grey to Novels In Heels today.  James is a new author to me and I must say he has a new fan.  After reading Escort in Training and Escort Unleashed, I was hooked.  It’s a pleasure to have him here today in an author interview and spotlight.

As you may or may not know from his bio James is a red-blooded male bent on writing honest erotica. He is the real deal. He lays his innermost lusts, hottest experiences and darkest disappointments on the line for all to see: passion, ecstasy, angst and unsugared failure. If you want to know what a man thinks, feels and desires, he is an open book. And if you'd like a hint of how he likes his women to be, delve into his work, and read the biography at the end of his ebooks – He has been told it has quite an effect on people.
He also writes female point of view stories, which focus on a woman's experience, adventure and pleasure. He would love you to tell him how he’s doing!

He’s even narrated his own Audiobook. You can get a little preview of his voice here and buy the real deal here.

If you want to talk to him, the best place to connect is Facebook. Join his Fan Group here and send him a friend request here. You can also join his mailing list at this link. He’s also on Twitter @jamesgreyerotic, so be sure to follow him there.

He says, “With me, what you see is what you get. My mind is yours to comb. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.”

As you know, I love interviewing authors and getting an insight into their lives, what makes them tick and write awesome stories with a little more of an in-depth interview. So let’s start and see where it takes us.

NIH - Name (Do you write under a pen name?):

JG - James Grey, and yes, that is a nom de plume!

NIH - Age:

JG - 36

NIH - Where are you currently based?

JG - London, UK

NIH - The first thing I was curious about and really wanted to know from James was how he wrote his character Emma Carling from a female POV being a male author.  I wondered if he had experienced that at all as it was so vivid and exciting.

JG - Haha, not at all! To be honest I just wanted an excuse to write as many sex scenes as possible. That's how it began anyway.

Then as I wrote I began to realise I was writing Emma as the kind of liberated woman I really want, and Petra was what I really don't like.

I am genuinely jealous as a man that I can't have sex for money!

I’d only written a couple of female POV short stories before this, so it was quite a challenge for me. I don’t know why I did it: I tend to do things on a whim and throw myself into them. My guide has always been reading female POV novels written by real females, and learning what I can from them. Also talking to women and trying to understand their way of thinking in my everyday life.

NIH - Tell us a little about yourself?  Something more than is in your Bio.  Or tell us something that none of your fans would know.  (Or give us 3 quirky facts about you?)

JG - I lean towards the dominant in real life and am still looking for my perfect sub.

JG - I quite like staying at home and not talking to people for long periods of time.

JG - I speak four languages and get by in a couple more.

NIH - How easy/hard is writing for you?

JG - The writing itself is wonderful, I just wish it wasn’t always a rush. Finding time is the hard part of writing for me. The day job is a real pain in this regard.

NIH - How long have you been writing?

JG - From about eight, although that would not have been erotica! I have written on sport, travel and much more in my professional life. Erotica only started a couple of years ago when I decided to explore the intriguing world of self-publishing.

NIH - What did you do before you began writing or published your first book?

JG - I’ve always had to have a day job and sadly that hasn’t changed. But I’ve spent quite a lot of time travelling in between jobs, even since beginning the writing adventure.

NIH - What inspires you to write?

JG - I love to think what effect my words might be having on readers.

NIH - What has been your favourite book to write to date and why?

JG - Hot Wet Touches Amsterdam. It’s all true-life and it’s from my own point of view. And I wrote it while it was very fresh in my mind, and shared it with the main lady character…and I was proud when she reported she’d touched herself while reading it!

NIH - How do your ideas begin?

JG - Mostly they just come to me when I’m sitting down to write. Or perhaps while I’m chatting with a woman in bed. Mind’s quite fertile for erotica then…

NIH - How much of your books are real – how much is fiction?

JG - 75% fiction and 25% real.

NIH - Are the experiences in the story based on someone you know or events in your own life?

JG - There are elements of these throughout my work, as with any author. I often have someone in mind when I do a description of appearance or character. However the stories that are 100% real are Hot Wet Touches Amsterdam and then The Raven and Playdate, which are in the Ravenous Desires collection. Hot Wet Touches and April are both partially real-life.

NIH - Which famous person, living or dead, would you like to meet and why?

JG - Shyla Jennings. She is my favourite porn star and I just love the way she seems to enjoy her work without needing to act. She is absolutely beautiful and it’s probably best I don’t meet her as I don’t think I’d keep my hands to myself!

NIH - What are the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

JG - Just how much my work means to book fans. And how much they like interaction. That was a real shock. I didn’t think anyone would care.

NIH - How do you feel writing sexy, erotic scenes?  Do you write them with experience or lots of research?

JG - Experience and imagination, but not really research.

NIH – What are you currently working on, can you share a little of it with us?

JG - I should be getting to part three of the Emma series, but the day job is leaving me a bit exhausted.

NIH - What is your one (top) sexual fantasy?  Have you accomplished it?

JG - Threesome – and yes, twice! I’d like to take it a step further into having two or three girlfriends full-time, who loved to share me and each other. Not asking much is it? I would also like to have a proper submissive partner – one who is always hungry to please and is completely sexy about it.

A huge thank you to James for hanging out with me today.  It was a real pleasure getting to know you a little.

Hopefully, you all enjoyed this interview and check out James’ stories.
